Overview

As an Assistant Manager, Tax in BDO, you are responsible for advising clients of the tax and transfer pricing implications relating to their business objectives, recommending alternate courses of action, as well as identifying different methods of complying with transfer pricing regulations. In this role, you will be charged with marketing, networking and business development within your area of experience and specialisation and recognising potential changes in tax policy and applying new policies to tax and TP compliance


Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in determining the scope of tax and TP projects, establishing project budgets and timelines, drafting presentations, and presenting to prospective clients.
  • Make certain all assigned engagements comply with the Firm’s risk management procedures prior to engagement work commencing.
  • Conduct detailed review of draft deliverables and identify basic and complex tax and TP issues through the assigned engagements.
  • Ensure clients are compliant with tax and TP requirements (and highlight any risks and opportunities post engagement) and propose a subsequent tax or TP review or update, if applicable.
  • Supervise and coach junior team members and assist in managing billings and collections

 

Education and professional skills/ knowledge

Experience & Education:

 

  • Degree in Accounting discipline and/ or a Professional qualification
  • At least 4 years of working experience preferably in a professional services environment
  • At least 1 year of experience in leading and managing teams

 

Other skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Solid organisational skills especially ability meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independent or within a group environment
  • Strong drive to excel professionally and ability to guide and motivate team members
  • Capable to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
  • Ability to network and develop business within the Tax and Transfer Pricing practice
