Prior to joining BDO in 2014, Hock An was a partner of KPMG. He was the Head and Chief Operating Officer of the Restructuring practice in KPMG from 2008 to 2010 and 2011 to 2013 respectively. He was also the Quality Performance Liaison Partner of the Financial Advisory Services in KPMG from 2004 to 2012 which required him to travel to Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and other countries for quality control review.
He specialises in corporate recovery and restructuring, financial due diligence and business and financial reviews. He has been involved in numerous insolvency administrations such as receivership, liquidations, special administration, monitoring accountants as well as due diligence and management of non-performing loans portfolio. Such engagements involved taking over and management of companies and assets prior to sale (especially receivership), developing sale strategies, advising, negotiating and executing sales of various types of assets including investments, inventories, properties, plant and equipment.
Hock An also has many years’ experience in audit, financial due diligence and review of financial projections covering a diversity of clients both in terms of size and industry. During his tenure in the auditing and advisory industry, he has gained extensive experience in various industries including financial and stock-broking services, building and construction, property and development, manufacturing, trading, power, shipping and cooperative societies.
Hock An previously served as a Secretary from March 2015 to March 2019 and the Deputy President of IPAM from April 2019 to September 2020. He also previously served as a committee member of the Insolvency Practice Committee of MIA and a committee member of the Insolvency Practice Committee of MICPA.
